The Maui Paradise Marathon is eco-friendly. What do we mean by this? What can an event do in terms of eco-awareness and leading by example?
Holo the whale is our mascot for several reasons. Firstly the race will be in the middle of the whale migration season in Maui and there are lots of opportunities to do some whale-watching activities before or after the races. Secondly everyone loves whales and as the largest sea creatures we often associate the health of our planet with the health of our whale populations. With Holo as our mascot we intend to both provide information on eco-systems in the Hawaiian islands as well as show an eco-friendly code of behaviour within our race infrastructure.
