Course Information

Marathon & Half Marathon Courses
We will have two marathon courses and two half marathon courses, one new one. They are similar to what we had for 2011. Start for all of them is at the Library in Kihei. One marathon course heads north on S Kihei Road and turns around just past MP 3 and the Canoe Club area on N Kihei Road, returns along S Kihei Road and heads out south through Wailea to the Makena area to turn around to return north to the Library. The other marathon course heads south immediately and turns around at the Grand Wailea, back north to the Library, then south again to the Makena turn around, returning north to the Library. The first half marathon heads south to just prior to the Makena Beach Resort where it turns around returning to the Library. The new half marathon course starts at the Shops of Wailea just south of the Marriott Hotel. Follow the Wailea Alanui road through Makena past Makena Beach resort, past Big Beach, into Ahihi reserve and about 1.4 miles past the cove into the lava fields where we hit half way and turn around and trace our steps back to the start.
Marathon course #1a starts and finishes in front of the Library in Kihei, right on the ocean. For the first part you head North on S Kihei Road to the Sugar Beach area for around 4.3 miles to the turnaround point to return South to the start/finish area. You continue South on S Kihei Rd up to Wailea Alanui and then Makena Alanui. At around the 17 Mile mark at Ahihi Bay you turn around and head back North to the Library for the finish.
Marathon course #1b starts and finishes in front of the Library in Kihei, right on the ocean. For the first part you head South on S Kihei Road up to Wailea Alanui and continue on it to the upper driveway at the Grand Wailea (past the Shops at Wailea) before the stoplight for around 4.3 miles, turn around and return North to the start/finish area at the fire station. You turn around and head South on S Kihei Rd the same way you went to start the run, up to Wailea Alanui and then Makena Alanui. At around the 17 Mile mark at Ahihi Bay you turn around and head back North to the Library for the finish.
Half Marathon course #2a starts and finishes in front of the Library in Kihei. The course is an out and back course right along the Pacific Ocean. As you leave the Library you head South on S Kihei Road up to Wailea Alanui and then Makena Alanui to just before the Makena Beach Resort. You then turn around and head North back to the Library for the finish.
Half Marathon course #2b (new) The new half marathon course starts at the Shops of Wailea just south of the Marriott Hotel. For all courses going out and back you will have the ocean on one side and Haleakala on the other. These courses are spectacular and don't be surprised if you see whales breaching while smelling the fragrances of the tropical flowers.
